July/August Chimes

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As July slowly turns to August and we approach the end of summer, I like the rest of you, am adjusting to the retirement of our Senior Pastor Skip McDowell. Pastor Skip served at St. Paul’s for almost ten years, and he and Pam will be missed for the love and care they both brought to this community of faith.

The staff is working hard to ensure that nothing is missed during this time of transition and we appreciate both your patience and your prayers. Church council will be providing the congregation with regular updates about the transition process, and you are always welcome to reach out with any questions you may have.

Even as we go through transitions and endings, the work and mission of St. Paul’s continues as strong as ever. We are gearing up for a wonderful fall and school year of great events, education, and service opportunities.

The fun will start in August with the planting of our community garden. Spearheaded by Social Ministry, the abundance from our harvest will go to the Ardmore Food Pantry at St. Mary’s. This has been a great opportunity to deepen our collaboration with a congregation right up the street. I will also be continuing to make Pastor Skip’s deliveries of cereal to St. Mary’s.

In September, Rally Day kicks off on September 11, with one service at 9:30. At this service, we will be unveiling our new church logo, so you don’t want to miss it! We will once again be participating in “God’s Work. Our Hands.” day of service. This year we will package dried meals to go around the world. In about an hour and half, we will be able to package 10,000 meals with your help! Our annual Rally Day picnic will follow immediately after.

I wish you all a safe and happy summer and am excited to continue working with all of you in our ministry going forward!

In Christ,

Pastor Laura Tancredi
